Explore regal pomp and ceremony, Norwegian style. The wooden Stiftsgarden is the city’s official royal residence and monarchs are still being crowned here under the Nidaros Cathedral’s gleaming spire. You can also ride the quaint sightseeing streetcars, or visit the open-air folk museums, a working ski jump, or the famous Lokken Copper Mines.

The sky above Tromso can also be a truly breathtaking spectacle when the dramatic northern lights dance across the sky during dark winter nights. In summer, the midnight sun never sets on this bustling city, famous for its vibrant nightlife. The crisp, clear days give way to long, bright nights, filled with hiking, fishing, or simply a warming cup of tea as you watch the locals go about their day.

Sailing through Norway’s glass-like waters on route to Alesund, you’ll be struck by a sweeping peninsula of Art Nouveau architecture, stretching to lush greenery, where mountain peaks reach skyward, reflected in the converging fjords. Arriving in Alesund, you could be forgiven for thinking you’d stepped off your ship into the pages of a fairy-tale. Day 11 - Hamburg, Germany

Seventy miles from the sea, on the Elbe River in northern Germany, Hamburg is the second largest port city in Europe and one of Germany’s most cosmopolitan, dynamic and fascinating destinations. The city has some 2,000 plus bridges—more than Venice and Amsterdam combined, earning Hamburg the moniker the ‘Venice of the North’. As well as exploring the city’s highlights, including its neo-renaissance and baroque architecture, Museum of Fine Arts and redbrick warehouse district, you can travel to attractive World Heritage city of Lübeck. Sample the famous Niederegger marzipan and explore Lübeck’s Old Town, where gabled houses and ancient churches span over 100 hectares.
